This was written a few days ago but I forgot to post it.
I will be leaving in a very short while to go to one of the many midnight showings of the movie Iron Man 2 at my local movie theater. I am really really excited. I loved the first one and have been excitingly waiting for the sequel. For the last few days I have been avoiding reviews so I can go into with a free mind and make up my opinion of the movie on my own. I hope I enjoy Iron Man 2 as much as I liked the first movie. The hype for the movie has been huge. Online I read that it is quite possible that it will break the Dark Knight's three weekend box office gross. If I remember correctly The Dark Knight opened to around $155 million in the first three days including midnight showings on Thursday. They say that Iron Man 2 could open to about $150-160 million for the first three days including midnight showings. I hope it can because I want genre films like this to continue to make a lot of money because I want studios to continue to make the type of films I enjoy. That does not mean though that I want studios to make bad movies just so they can continue to make more movies faster and make more money. It means that I want them to continue to make quality genre films and hopefully they will take notice that when they make a quality film it will make a lot of money. As of writing this I have not seen Iron Man 2 so I cannot say that it is a quality film but I believe that everything about it has the potential to make a great movie. I am very excited to go to a midnight showing of Iron Man 2. When the first one came out I was not expecting much because I did not know much about the character but once I saw it I loved it. If I remember correctly I think I saw it four times in theater and I also went to a midnight DVD release of the film at a local Best Buy. So it is quite obvious that I really enjoyed the movie and because of how much I enjoyed it I have high expectations for the sequel. I hope it lives up to my expectations, but I feel that it is highly likely that it won't live up.
